Erasmus - Estónia :)

That’s it! Our journey in Estonia is almost at the end…=(

However, it has been a great experience that we will never forget for sure!

Our purpose in coming to Estonia was to do our practices. We spent most of our journey in Tartu but we went to Tallin for a month, too.

We came in February and it was really COLD (-28)! However it was a truly different landscape for us because we had never seen so much snow! =) And all the houses looked so cute with snow all around.

Our practices were developed mainly in the health board of Tallinn and in the health board of Tartu. We have been doing several interesting things here which are related with our course, Environmental Health. Furthermore we can compare how things are done here, in Estonia, and on our country, Portugal.

For us, one of the best things here in Estonia is the people. They are really kind and always help us… not only at school or in the health board but also on the streets when we need some information. I’m remembering that on the other day, we were a little bit lost (it happens sometimes =D) and we decided to ask to an old lady if she could tell us the way. She was really kind with us and for our surprise she explained everything in English! We couldn’t believe that… An old lady talking in English! =D Yes, this is another excellent point! In general, people speak current English, which is very good for us because we still don’t know very much of Estonian language.

The weather now is getting better and we had the opportunity to visit not only Tallinn and Tartu but also another cities in countries near to Estonia like Riga (Latvia), Stockholm (Sweden), Helsinki (Finland) and Vilnius (Lithuania).

In Tartu and in Tallinn we met many people, mostly of them students. Some of the student’s were our tutors and know they are doing ERASMUS in Portugal (Dagmar, Mihkel and Ave) and in Bulgaria (Astrid, Kairit and Meirit) – Thank you for everything you did for us =)!

We met also Latvian girls that are living with us =P

In Tallinn we met many Erasmus students and even Portuguese people so, we did some dinners and of course we made our traditional food =).
